Painter Matthew Wicklund

The photos showcase painter and owner Matthew Wicklund performing drywall repair and painting a ceiling. Matt is an expert at making ceilings look their best.

Artist Nancy Mitchell

This is an artistic project recently completed by Nancy Mitchell. Twin fixed mirrors were hand painted and embellished to compliment an existing frame. This painting technique gave new life to basic moldings and spared the homeowner the mess and expense of having the mirrors removed.

Trey Ceiling

Trey ceilings - no problem. Beautiful furnishings - no problem. Matthew will video your room, take it apart, make your walls beautiful and put it all back together. The best word to describe his work is meticulous!

Entryway

What does your front door say about you? This front door has just been freshly stained and varnished by Matthew Wicklund of Master Painting. What a beautiful statement!

Marsh Grass Accent

The marsh grass brought the color of the mat above to the wall below to tie everything together and add interest to an empty area.

Wall Accent

We wanted to bring out the color of the mat on the Sepia photos above.

Side Tables and Coffee Table Refinishing

The coffee table is a quality piece that again just needed updating to tie it into the new red and blue accents. By making it a more neutral color it actually made the room seem larger. Driftwood top and distressed chalk paint bottom. The accents in this room really pop now!

Furniture Finish for Guest Room

The color of the furniture was hand mixed and chosen to compliment the driftwood floors. The faux wood tops were done darker than the floor to pop and also act as a step between the Brown/black headboard and the floor. The paint was failing on both night stands. The warm wood finish on top of the nightstand really pops against the neutral wall. The large dresser was from the 1960's with painting falling off, but it held sentimental value and had to be saved! The top finish was achieved using, lots of elbow grease, Chalk paint, finishing wax and a little love. In addition to being Faux grained on top, the large dresser was also chalk painted and faux distressed. The edges couldn't be sanded because of the inconsistent paint finishes below. The three coats of wax really added to the soft sheen on the top and made the wood finish even richer. The 3 pieces together will be used by the family for many years to come.

Summertime - Commissioned Oil Painting

This was a commissioned Oil painting for a client who wanted wildflowers and Marsh. Before I painted the large painting I did a smaller - to scale painting so the client and I would be confident going forward and any changes could be addressed at this time .The finished Oil Painting was 30 x 40, the colors were vibrant and the painting also had some texture. All my paintings are wired and ready to hang.

Teak Door Casing

The client wanted the casing to be Faux finished to match the French doors. We Faux finished the casing to match the grain of the Teak French doors. Huge savings when compared to using real Teak!

Evening Marsh/Morning Beach Screen

This is a hand made, hand painted, double sided, reversible hinged screen. One side of the screen is called Evening Marsh and the opposite side is called Morning Beach. The canvas is painted in oils and the frame is painted in Chalk paint.

Mural of the Marsh

Surrounding colors often dictate the palette I use for a mural. The strong Burgundy wall and Rust grass cloth on the lower half inspired a vibrant sunset marsh.

Maple Table Refinish

This is a maple table in a rental unit near Harbourtown here on Hilton Head Island. The client wanted an update to compliment their new driftwood tile and Red & Blue accents in the room. We chose a soft driftwood finish for the table top. I used chalk paint in 3 colors on the top mimicking the floor in a slightly lighter palette. The paint was then protected with clear wax and also has a glass top which is always a good idea for high volume rentals. The bottom, legs and matching chairs were finished in white chalk paint with distressed areas also protected with clear wax.

Marbleized Wall & Hand Painted Mirror

This was a powder room that was designed for maximum impact with a very dramatic marble effect. The mirror was painted to compliment the light fixture above it.

Island Mural

This is a mural painted to reflect an unspoiled Island. The fly fisherman approaches in a small boat. Just another beautiful day in the Lowcountry. Soft and relaxing, that was our goal.

Antique Details

This is the bathroom of my client with antique accents. Her fathers antique tools have been used on shelves next to the stand-up shower. The goal was to tie the mirror, the tools and the finish on the walls (done very expertly by the client herself!)Together. We decided on gold toned fig leaf ivy, marsh grass, a wrought iron detail for the mirror and a portrait of their Sun Conure Bam Bam. Wrought iron detail was used at the top of the mirror to tie in the antique elements on the shelves. We also honored Bam Bam the Sun Conure with a portrait.

Trompe L'oeil

This is an example of "fool the eye" artwork that adds a touch of whimsey to your life. Visitors to your home are entertained by the momentary belief that an object or scene is real. Great fun! The rug painting is done by Nancy Mitchell and was hand-painted on a Powder room floor. The shelf painting is a hand-fitted, hand-painted wooden insert refrigerator door.

South Beach

I painted this from the back yard of one of my favorite clients. This view is of the back of South Beach where the popular Salty Dog is located.

Dresser Makeover

This dresser was chipping and was sanded extensively to provide a good surface for the paint to bond to. Good prep is very important! The top was finished in a more reddish tone to go with Teak french doors nearby. This piece will be great storage for a working office. Note the previously green detail has been changed to a wood tone to compliment the faux wood top.

Exterior Painting

This is the quality work you can expect when you employ Master Painting to Paint your house. Don't sweat the details - let us do that. These working shutters were removed and expertly painted front and back and re-hung perfectly. What a wonderful feeling pulling up to a freshly painted home. What a thoughtful reflection to the neighbors of the family inside.

Sea Pines Beach - 36 x 48 Commissioned Painting

This was a recent commission. I visited the beautiful home of my clients to see their colors and see the wall where the painting would hang. We then took a quick walk to the beach to see the first thing they see when they arrive. Their emotional connection was this amazing view. I love the feeling of happiness when my clients welcome my painting into their home like a treasured old friend.

Palmetto Tree

Bringing the outdoors in was the goal of this mural design. The texture of the palmetto's bark and the wispiness of the fronds really complimented this high ceiling.

Coffee Table

Life's a Beach. Why not bring it into your home with a fun / funky hand painted furniture piece.
