The color of the furniture was hand mixed and chosen to compliment the driftwood floors. The faux wood tops were done darker than the floor to pop and also act as a step between the Brown/black headboard and the floor. The paint was failing on both night stands. The warm wood finish on top of the nightstand really pops against the neutral wall. The large dresser was from the 1960's with painting falling off, but it held sentimental value and had to be saved! The top finish was achieved using, lots of elbow grease, Chalk paint, finishing wax and a little love. In addition to being Faux grained on top, the large dresser was also chalk painted and faux distressed. The edges couldn't be sanded because of the inconsistent paint finishes below. The three coats of wax really added to the soft sheen on the top and made the wood finish even richer. The 3 pieces together will be used by the family for many years to come.
